Boating In Japan

Getting out on the water in Japan can be an ominous task given stringent government regulations and licensing requirements, the high cost of purchasing a boat, the costs of ownership, and finding marina space in and around Tokyo, among many other factors.

To cut through these difficulties and help inform the public of the breadth of options available for perspective boaters, TSPS held a well-attended open seminar in Tokyo on February 16, 2017. Experienced boaters presented on nine topics ranging from regulatory requirements to purchasing a boat in Japan to boating education. The topics covered by the speakers are listed below and linked to the slides used in the presentations.
