Buy this boat!

I bequeath my beloved 26′ Santana (1983) not to the first-comer but to someone who will cherish and enjoy her like I did… someone who will allow her to teach you a thing or two about sailing. As for me, I have moved-on to a larger and older vessel, and it is inadvisable to attempt to handle two-lovers at the same time, so I am told.

I inherited Santana, abandoned and forlorn, next to Evan Burkosky’s indestructible Watari near Hota port on the Chiba coast. Since then, Evan & I sailed and repaired and refurbished Santana over the last 5 years; I became a passably competent solo sailor as a result: plenty on Skuttlebutt of our escapades. But also due to Santana, I am now able to move-up several notches to a more substantial sailing yacht (a 44′ Swan), as has Captain Evan with his new refurbished 33′ Perkinson-designed Garuda!

In any event, here are some photos from this weekend. She is ready to go but needs her own berth. TSPS Members via Skuttlebutt get the first bite; I will upload to Chuko-tei on November 10 if no closure; this Post will be removed as soon as I receive a commitment:

If you are interested in seeing her, or taking her out for a spin, please let me know through my private channels (via Linked-in, FaceBook, email): ¥700,000 yen.

About Timothy Langley

I joined TSPS 5 years ago after stumbling-upon a decrepit abandoned yacht in Chiba; I joined in order to get my Class II license so that I could sail the craft while fixing it up. Eventually, with the help of TSPS and friends like Evan Burkowsky and Tony Hardie, we made the boat (and me, too!) seaworthy. More recently, I have fallen into an even older larger sailboat and am working with friends to restore her to magnificence! She is a very desirable fifty-year old Swan 44'. So I will part with my beloved Santana and transition from solo-sailing to a more traditional crew-sailing (but to much farther destinations!). Sailing is such a rich and deep pastime. Thank you for posting your own comments and sailing experiences here.
